FairSides ("we", "us") operates FairSides.com, a web app that helps pickup football, futsal, and basketball groups rate each other and put together fair teams. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We try to keep it short and human; the legal basics are still all here.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is FairSides. You can reach us at support@fairsides.com.

What we collect

When you create an account and use FairSides.com, we collect:

  • Your email address (for login and account recovery).
  • Your display name and chosen username.
  • An optional country and avatar image.
  • The groups you belong to and your role inside each group.
  • The ratings you give other players and the ratings other players give you.
  • Match stats (goals, assists, MVP votes) for matches you play in.
  • The history of votes you cast, used to compute fair team balance and to surface changes over time.

Why we're allowed to process it

Under the GDPR we rely on three legal bases, depending on the data:

  • Performance of a contract. Your account, profile, and group memberships are necessary to deliver the service you signed up for.
  • Legitimate interest. Aggregated rating information visible to fellow members of your group is necessary for the core balancing feature to work, and members reasonably expect it as part of the product.
  • Consent. Making your profile public outside your group is opt-in, controlled by the public profile toggle in your settings, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Who we share data with

We don't sell your data. We use a small number of trusted processors to run the service:

  • Supabase — authentication, the Postgres database, and avatar storage. Hosted in the EU region.
  • Polar — billing and subscription management for paid group plans. Polar receives the email of the person upgrading and the subscription metadata, not your ratings or match history.
  • Vercel — application hosting and edge delivery. Vercel processes request logs and IP addresses inherent to serving the site.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account from the profile page (or email us to ask), we remove your personal data within 30 days. Encrypted database backups are rotated and overwritten within 90 days, after which no copy remains.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, port, and object to the processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Most of these you can exercise directly: the profile page includes self-serve buttons to export everything we have on you as a JSON file, and to permanently delete your account. For anything else, email support@fairsides.com.

Cookies

We only set essential cookies needed to keep you signed in (the Supabase authentication session). We do not use tracking cookies, third-party advertising pixels, or analytics scripts.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in-app or by email.
